Not technically a purchase since it's a promotion (3-year-old promotion, I might add But it was still valid) Anyway, I have 3 months free.
I'm a big oval nut, been watching iRacing videos, and I eventually started wanting to give it a try really bad. So I couldn't have found this at a better time! Once I started racing, I see why people pay for it. Especially if you're in to ovals, there's nothing that compares to this in the circular realm.
This was great fun throughout the course of the season, this last round excluded, since I didn't even see track time (daylight savings caught me off-guard). I hope to see even more competitors next year, and maybe a few more rounds. That would surely spice things up a bit. But I have to give a big thanks to Toumas and Remco, none of this would have happened without them!
I must give congratulations to Toumas, Yannick and Gary. They all performed great throughout the season. They deserve to be the top 3.
And now begins the process of finding ways to bide my time until the next Formula M season. I hope I won't be too bored for the time being. Perhaps I'll make a new skin, with the series logo and such to start the off-season.
I'm really torn, if Johnson gets it Gordon benefits, because the whole car-owner deal... But being a Gordon fan I don't want to see Johnson get another championship. So that would make me root for Kenseth.
He wasn't the crew chief for any of his cars though. :/ Plus, just because you're successful at one position doesn't mean you'll do great at anything else. Now I'm not saying it was all Evernham, or that I think that way. But that one fact does little to prove otherwise.
Definitely, it's two separate eras, the way you won championships then was completely different from how you can do it now. Like I stated, I don't think it's realistic to believe he can do it this year, I was just having some fun. But people have come back from a bad finish to still be in major contention, it's really rare though. Which is why it's not reasonable to count on it happening under most circumstances.
Yep, Ole' Jeff would have been 6-time (or maybe more, who knows) if the chase wouldn't have come in. And he's never had to come from behind to win a championship because no one could keep up with him in his prime. XD
BEWARE: I will take any opportunity I see to make a joke about Gordon's success.
Just because you can't see it happening doesn't mean it can't. Crazy things that no one ever saw coming have happened in the past, and there's nothing stopping it from happening again.
On a serious note: Yeah, I realize that it's not "realistic" to think Gordon, or anyone else in the top 5 other than Kenseth or Johnson will have a shot at it come Homestead. But you have to consider what this guy has done in the past, if he could just get this decade-old Monkey off his back he could be back to where he was in the 90's and early 2000's.
You act as if he has no shot of doing remotely well in Cup anymore. There are some fans that are much more "blind" than those of Gordon. I've just never understood why Gordon fans are perceived as this outcast group following without a cause, it's not like we're any different than other fan groups.
Oh, wait, we are... They don't have one of the greatest drivers of all time to root for.
I guess all the people who give Gordon/his fans a hard time are all of the leftover Gordon boo-er's from the 90's. Who are most likely still jealous because he continues to perform better than whoever their favorite driver is.
Yeah, I suppose they did. That would be a truly amazing feat, he might snatch the title if he did. Depending on where Johnson and Kenseth finish. He would have to muster up a whole lot of the "Old-Jeff" for that to be even considered realistic though.
I honestly do think he still has a shot to win the title. It might be a longshot, but from how he's been performing leading up to and in the Chase I wouldn't see why he couldn't reel off at least 1 more win and be in serious contention by Homestead.
This is all hopes and dreams from I die-hard Gordon fan though. I'd be really happy and surprised if any of this happened.
Sorta like Gordon this year. *wink*
But yeah, he had a mediocre season at best before the chase. It was a shock to me that he even had a shot at it. (Talking about 2011)
Haha, I got a good laugh out of that. To be fair though, he has had multiple chances to win this season. It was mostly things that he couldn't control that took him out of contention.
Yep, I didn't believe a word he said. From seeing/hearing about what his/RCR's relationship has been like lately, I see why he's leaving and said the things he did.
Though I can't help but wonder how things will go at SHR, they're not the hottest team either. I feel like there were probably better options for him. Especially since SHR went to 3 teams and started running poorly, you have to think that going to 4 will have a similar impact.
